Movie plan for Sex and the City
Sex and the City
The show's stars are in talks to appear in the movie
Sex and the City's final episode, which is being shown in the US on Sunday, may not be the end - because a movie could be made after the hit show finishes.

The TV comedy's executive producer Michael Patrick King is writing a film script and its cable channel HBO is in talks with the show's stars to appear.

The movie would finally conclude the stories of the four Manhattan women and their social and sexual adventures.

The TV show began in 1998 and is ending after six series and numerous awards.

A spokeswoman for HBO, which makes the show, said Mr King would also direct the film but no production date had been set and no distributor had signed up.

Story secrets

The TV show has become one of HBO's biggest hits, and one of the most critically-acclaimed comedies of recent years.

It became the first cable series to win an Emmy Award for best comedy, in 2001.

Among the storylines to be wrapped up in the final episode include whether Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, ends up with artist Aleksandr Petrovsky - played by dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov - or Mr Big, played by Chris Noth.

And the fortunes of Kim Cattrall's cancer-suffering character Samantha will also be played out.

The last episode is due to be shown in the UK on 19 March.
