A work by Peter Blake which is an auction item |
Contemporary artists including Damien Hirst and Sam Taylor-Wood are selling works to raise funds for War Child. The original pieces on offer at the auction range from pop art by Peter Blake to a work of graffiti art.
The auction is taking place at Christie's in London on Thursday evening, while bidding has already been started on the internet.
In 2003, War Child released a charity album which featured music from David Bowie and Sir Paul McCartney.
Works of photography will also feature in the sale, including Isaac Julien's clenched fist, which is a symbol of the whole show.
All proceeds from the auction will used to help children in the war-torn countries of Iraq, Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The collection of works have been exhibited at two locations in the capital since the beginning of February.
The artwork can currently be viewed online at the Eyestorm website.
