James Miller planned to make a film about Palestinian children when witnesses say he was shot by an Israeli soldier as he left a house at night.

Producer Saira Shah used Mr Miller's footage to make Death in Gaza, which also looks at the cult of martyrdom.

Ms Shah said Mr Miller had also planned to make a film about Israeli children before he died.

Death in Gaza shows Mr Miller being hailed as a martyr in a refugee camp called Rafah, where the 34-year-old's poster lines the walls along with other images of victims and suicide bombers.

Rafah is a flashpoint in the troubled region, lying right on the border with Egypt. Israelis say the Palestinians use tunnels to smuggle in arms, weapons, and bombs for Islamic extremists.

The documentary follows four children between the ages of 12 and 16 who become caught up in the conflict.

One of the children is shot dead by Israelis and another is used as a look-out by local militants, who show little concern that he might be killed.

"There are 1,000 more kids like him," says one militant.

Najla, 16, says she wants to be a lawyer to defend her people's rights.

Mr Miller's widow Sophy, who attended the premiere, praised her late husband's work and said she would fight on for justice.

"There is overwhelming evidence that James was wrongly and illegally killed," she said.

Israeli authorities initially said Mr Miller was caught in crossfire but witnesses dispute this.
