Drew adds to Barrymore star cast
Actress Drew Barrymore has become the fifth member of her family to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I've been a ball of nerves about this day," said the former child-star, who came to fame in Steven Spielberg's ET.

"I'm honoured to be with my family," said Barrymore, 28, who joins father John D, grandfather John and his siblings Lionel and Ethel on the Walk.

Barrymore's latest film is the comedy 50 First Dates, with Adam Sandler.

Barrymore's grandfather was a well-known Hollywood star in his day - his career began on the stage and he made a name for himself in Broadway show, The Fortune Hunter, in 1909.

He became the most acclaimed Hamlet of his era in 1922, both in London and New York, and also went on to appear on the big screen in films such as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Beau Brummel, Don Juan and Eternal Love.

Wild child

His son, Drew Barrymore's father, also pursued an acting career, signing a movie deal at the age of 17. John Drew Barrymore had leading roles in several 1950s films such as Thunderbirds, Quebec, and The Big Night.

His sister and brother, Ethel and Lionel, concentrated mainly on the stage but all three siblings appeared in one film together, Rasputin and the Empress, in 1932.

Drew Barrymore's films include Bad Girls, Batman Forever, The Wedding Singer and Charlie's Angels. Her godfather is director Stephen Spielberg.

She is as well known for her private life as she is for her acting - she had a well-documented pre-teen drugs and alcohol problem before going into rehabilitation. She was married and divorced twice by the time she was 26.
