Tim Burton's Big Fish has failed to dislodge Scary Movie 3 from the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart. The horror spoof held onto the top spot for a second consecutive week - with takings of �1.89m over the three days from 30 January to 1 February.
Big Fish, which opened nationally last Friday after a limited release the previous week, rose from 14 to two - with weekend takings of �1.64m.
Tolkien epic The Return Of The King fell from number two to number three.
Topped
Scary Movie 3 - featuring guest spots from Pamela Anderson, Queen Latifah and Leslie Nielsen - also topped the North American chart on its release last autumn.
The film achieved a record opening weekend for an October release.
Big Fish, starring Ewan McGregor and Albert Finney as storyteller Edward Bloom at different stages in his life, recently picked up seven Bafta nominations.
The film narrowly failed to knock The Return Of The King from the top of the North American box office when released in the US in January.
New entries in this week's UK box office chart include thriller Cold Creek Manor at 14, and biopic Sylvia at 15.
