Robbie rockets up all-time list
Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams spent 34 weeks in the chart in 2003
Robbie Williams has jumped 20 places in an annual list of all-time music greats by the Guinness book of hit singles.

A 2003 that included chart success with Come Undone and Something Beautiful saw him leapfrog bands such as Abba and T-Rex to 46th in the chart.

The list is based on the number of weeks ever spent on the singles chart and is again topped by Elvis Presley.

The top 10 remain the same as before, though David Bowie needs just five more weeks on the chart to top the Beatles.

Top 10 (weeks in chart)
1. Elvis Presley (1193)
2. Cliff Richard (1152
3. The Shadows (771)
4. Elton John (623)
5. Madonna (606)
6. Diana Ross (560)
7. Michael Jackson (509)
8. Rod Stewart (477)
9. Beatles (456)
10. David Bowie (452)
The former Take That singer, who played record-breaking shows at Knebworth in the summer, went from 66th position to number 46.

He has now amassed 261 weeks on the Official UK singles chart, 34 more than 2002.

A career almost as long as the chart itself sees Cliff Richard firmly entrenched at number two, having spent a massive 1,152 weeks on it.

He would need to have songs in the chart for about another 10 months to displace Elvis from the top.

Oasis are the only change to the top 20, up two places from last year to 19.

Last year's big winner, Kylie Minogue, also moves up two places to number 23.

The chart will appear in the 17th edition of the book of British Hit Singles, published by Guinness, next year.
