Welsh rock band the Stereophonics are to appear at the Isle of Wight festival in the UK next summer. The festival, held on 11-13 June, has already announced a headlining set by legend David Bowie.
The festival was resurrected last year after a break of 32 years.
The event had previously attracted acts such as Bob Dylan, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane.
Hollywood urged to curb smoking
Hollywood executives have met attorneys general from the US states Connecticut, Utah and Vermont, who want the amount of smoking seen in films to be cut.
The attorneys general, who are worried that films glamorise smoking, met major studio directors and production executives in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Attorneys general from Maine and California are also urging film-makers to reduce on-screen smoking.
They are hoping to develop a system which advises when smoking is shown.
Affleck set for Christmas in Gulf
Hollywood actor Ben Affleck is to travel to the Persian Gulf to spend Christmas with the US troops.
Affleck, 31, will "sign autographs, participate in photo sessions and tour duty stations", according to the United Services Organisation (USO).
The trip is part of a campaign to promote his film thriller Paycheck, which opens in the US on Christmas Day.
On Tuesday, Affleck told US TV he and Jennifer Lopez were still engaged but were taking life at "our own pace".
Chili Peppers' huge Dublin show
US funk-rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers are to play an exclusive outdoor show in Dublin's Phoenix park next summer.
The 12 June show will have a capacity of over 120,000, organisers said.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday. The show is part of a summer European tour by the band.
The show follows the recent release of a greatest hits album by the band.
Writer Thompson breaks leg
Journalist Hunter S Thompson - author of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - is recovering after breaking his leg in a fall on Friday at his Waikiki hotel.
He will undergo surgery when he returns to his home in Aspen, Colorado.
Thompson, founder of the "gonzo" school of political journalism, was in Hawaii to cover Sunday's Honolulu Marathon.
The writer had planned to join actor Josh Hartnett - soon to appear in a film of Thompson's The Rum Diary - on the annual marathon's pace vehicle.
Drug charge rapper at junior show
US rapper Trick Daddy, who is awaiting trial on drugs charges, has been allowed to perform at a city-sponsored children's party in Miami.
The rapper, real name Maurice Young, is on house arrest, but has performed at a number of concerts and shows after being granted permission by a judge.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of Miami, Manny Diaz, said Young was "a local artist who children are familiar with".
He was arrested in September when drugs were allegedly found in his pocket.
