Jack and Meg White were recently up for four Grammys |
An alleged fight between lead singers of The White Stripes and The Von Bondies is under police investigation. The tussle between Jack White and Jason Stollsteimer is alleged to have taken place on Saturday in Detroit.
Stollsteimer, 25, told police he was punched in the face seven times. He was treated for facial injuries at a Detroit hospital and later released.
White told investigating officers he was acting in self-defence. Charges in the case have yet to be filed.
'Bruised eye'
Prosecutor Marcus Connor said his office was waiting for a police report into the investigation before a decision on charges would be made.
Stollsteimer's manager Rick Canny said it "was not a fight" but was an "attack".
Police said Stollsteimer's right eye was bruised and he suffered a nose bleed in the alleged incident at the Majestic Theater Center.
White is one half of duo The White Stripes, along with Meg White.
The band were recently nominated for four Grammy Awards, including album of the year for Elephant.
