 Polanski hopes to give video evidence from his home in France |
Director Roman Polanski's libel action against a magazine has been postponed to let him appeal to the House of Lords over whether he can give evidence by video. He is suing Vanity Fair magazine in London - but may face arrest on US rape charges if he sets foot in the UK.
Last week, the Court of Appeal ruled that Polanski could not give evidence via video link from his home in France.
He is taking the libel action over an article that appeared in 2002 about his
first wife, Sharon Tate.
Murdered
The libel action was due to start on Monday at the High Court in London, but was put back to January by Mr Justice Roy Eady after the Court of Appeal's decision.
Polanski could be arrested if he comes to the UK because he admitted unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in the United States in1977.
He fled to France before he was sentenced and the charges are still outstanding.
Polanski, 69, won this year's Oscar for best director for his World War II drama The Pianist.
Sharon Tate was murdered by followers of Charles Manson in 1969.
