Bollywood invite for Prince Charles
Prince Charles
Prince Charles has already touched down in India
The Prince of Wales is to snap the clapperboard to signal the start of a Bollywood film on his visit to India.

Prince Charles will step on to the set of The Rising - a film about the first major Indian revolt against British rule - on Monday.

He arrived in India on Tuesday to start his nine-day tour, focusing on the environment and heritage restoration.

"It's a nice way to celebrate Charles' visit to India," said the film's producer Bobby Bedi.

The movie, being filmed in English and Hindi, features some of Bollywood's biggest stars including Aishwarya Rai and Aamir Khan.

The Rising is based on the 1857 uprising when Hindu and Muslim soldiers revolted against the British East India Company, over fears that gun cartridges were greased with animal fat forbidden by their religions.

Empire

The British described it as a mutiny, resulting in Britain taking control of most of the country.

"The war was against the East India Company and it created the British empire," Mr Bedi said.

Mr Bedi said the story revolved around Indian freedom fighter Mangal Pandey and his friendship with a British commanding officer.

The revolutionary was eventually executed for his role in the uprising, which killed British troops.
