Nelly has had huge hits with Country Grammar and Hot In Herre |
Rapper Nelly had more $1m (588,000) worth of jewellery stolen from a Las Vegas hotel room while he was at an awards ceremony, police have said. Officers said the US star reported a theft from his room at the Aladdin Hotel on Monday.
Singer Michelle Branch, who was staying at the same hotel, reported computer equipment missing from her room.
Nelly was in Las Vegas for the Radio Music Awards, where he won best song with P Diddy for Shake a Tail Feather.
Las Vegas police officer Tina Ellison said the burglaries were reported on Monday evening and are now being investigated.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, has the image typical of today's rap stars, wearing heavy and expensive and jewellery as status symbols.
He burst onto the scene with the track Country Grammar before scoring a huge hit with Hot in Herre, taken from the album Nellyville.
He has only recently stopped wearing his trademark plaster on his face, reportedly worn as a testament to his brother who was serving a jail sentence.
