The pair usually sell their work for thousands of pounds

Turner Prize nominees Jake and Dinos Chapman have sold a box of their art at a car boot sale in Brighton.

The pair, who are favourites to win the art prize, auctioned the sealed box, labelled The Disasters of War, for 500.

The Vauxhall Car Art Rally and Boot Fair was part of the Brighton Photo Biennial, attended by artists such as Martin Parr, Phil Collins, Adam Chodzko, Mike Nelson and Rachel Lowe.

Meanwhile, the Chapmans are set to unveil a controversial artwork as part of the Turner Prize exhibition this week, according to a newspaper report.

The contents of the box are unknown
The pair are set to unveil a bronze sculpture, called Death, which depicts a naked couple engaged in oral sex, the Observer reported.

While the Turner Prize is known for controversy, the Chapman brothers are "going for the shock horror jugular," according to Turner nominee Grayson Perry, who was quoted in the paper.

The paper reported that Tate Britain, which holds the exhibition, will display a "health warning" outside the gallery.

It added that the "controversy" of the sculpture "threatens to dwarf even the rows that have engulfed the Turner Prize over its past 20 years".

The Turner Prize exhibition opens at Tate Britain on 29 October.
