Ex-employees sue Redford
Robert Redford

Two former employees of actor Robert Redford are suing him for allegedly not paying up on a deal for them to leave his production companies.

Jeff Kleeman and Eric Greenfield allege the Hollywood star agreed to a $750,000 (471,840) severance deal to leave his employment.

But the pair have now filed lawsuits in Los Angeles seeking $200,000 (125,834) plus interest and damages accusing him of not paying.

Mr Kleeman was president and chief executive of Redford's Catalyst Film Works, while Mr Greenfield worked as chief operating officer of his Sundance Productions.

The former employees claim Redford agreed to "settle a dispute arising out of their employment" but failed to pay the instalments on time.

They say they received an initial $250,000 (157,302) when they signed the severance agreement and were to get another $500,000 (314,604) in three instalments before October 2004.

But the lawsuit says Redford did not make a due payment of $200,000 on the expected date of 1 October 2002 and "continues to fail and refuse" to do so.
