 Crime drama CSI was the most popular show of the summer |
US network CBS has come out top of the annual TV ratings battle with hits like CSI and the US version of Big Brother. CBS, also home to comedy Everybody Loves Raymond and reality hit Survivor, attracted an average of 11.1 million viewers over the past 12 months.
NBC - which makes Friends, Law & Order and The West Wing - was second, with an average of 10.4 million.
But NBC attracted the most viewers aged between 18-49 - which is the most attractive age group for advertisers.
In the overall battle, ABC, with shows like NYPD Blue, Alias and The Bachelor, was third.

And Fox - which broadcasts American Idol, 24 and Malcolm in the Middle - was fourth.
The most popular shows over the summer - except sport broadcasts - were CSI, Everybody Loves Raymond and Law & Order.
US television programmes are shown in seasons - cycles meaning most shows start and finish at the same time of year.
The latest season has just finished, with another starting - meaning new series of shows like Friends, CSI and the US version of British sitcom Coupling start this week.
