The Beckhams are splitting their time between London and Madrid |
Victoria and David Beckham have issued a joint statement denying reports their marriage is in trouble since his move to Real Madrid. The couple insisted they were "extremely happy together" in a bid to end rumours that life in Spain was putting pressure on their relationship.
"Contrary to newspaper reports our marriage is not in crisis," they said in a statement released through their management team.
"We are extremely happy together as a family. Our only difficulty has been finding a house in Madrid that meets our needs."
Footballer Beckham made the 25m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid in June.
His pop star wife was understood to have found the move to a foreign country difficult.
"Since we first met our careers have always meant we have spent time apart," the statement continued.
"This is not a reflection on the strength of our marriage and we are very much enjoying our new life in Spain."
Beckham has made an impressive start to his Spanish career, scoring on his league debut and helping the team to their first Champions League victory against Marseilles this week.
On Sunday, he scored from a free kick as Real beat Malaga 3-1 in the Primera Liga.
His 29-year-old wife has been dividing her time between New York where she is working on her music career and London, where the couple's two children are still based.
The Beckhams have always stated they hoped to move full time to Madrid and enrol their children in local schools as soon as they find a suitable house.
