Phil Spector has maintained his innocence |
Detectives investigating the death of a B-movie actress at the home of record producer Phil Spector have submitted their findings to prosecutors. Officers completed their preliminary investigation into Lana Clarkson's death on Thursday.
Ms Clarkson was found in the foyer of Mr Spector's Los Angeles mansion with a gun shot to her face.
Mr Spector is on $1m (623,000) bail and no formal charges have been filed in connection with the death.
Sheriff's deputy Scott Butler said detectives had submitted their findings to the district attorney's office "for their consideration of a criminal filing".
Spector had suggested in an Esquire magazine interview published in July that Ms Clarkson may have shot herself.
But sheriff's investigators said in March that they discounted suicide as a possible cause of death.
Spector's wall of sound recording technique transformed 1960s pop music.
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he has worked with artists such as The Beatles, Ramones, Shirelles and Ronettes.
