Pop Idol 'losers' get second bite
Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell is the most infamous of Pop Idol 's judges
Two rejected Pop Idol contestants will get a second chance to make the finals in a twist to the ITV1 talent show.

One will be voted for by the public and another by the judges in a "Wildcard Show" based on a successful format used in American Idol 2.

Once the public have selected their final 10, judges will recall eight from the 40 that did not make the list.

The winner will be announced in a live show on ITV1 hosted by Ant & Dec.

A Pop Idol spokesman said: "Just when you thought your favourite contestant was out of the show forever we'll be giving the public, and our expert judges, the opportunity to give them a second chance."

On Saturday's edition of the show, the first two finalists - Michelle, 22, of Glasgow, and Chris, 18, from West Sussex - were chosen by viewers.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes has made them joint 4-1 favourites to win the series.
