More hopefuls enter Academy

Three more budding stars have been voted into the Fame Academy house by the public.

James Fox, Peter Brame and Audley Anderson joined four other students picked on Saturday to make up seven of the final 13 in the academy.

Of the initial four, Carolynne Good and Alistair Griffin have existing songwriting deals, while Louise Griffiths and Gary Phelan were in groups that used to have record contracts.

Fans of the series told BBC News Online they felt it was unfair that some contestants had previous industry experience.

But a spokeswoman for the show said none of the four had current recording contracts and there were no rules to say those with industry experience could not enter the competition.

Second heat hopefuls
Andrea Magee,18, from Glengormley, Belfast, interested in pop and country
Audley Anderson,31, from Surrey, likes soul and R'n'B
James Fox, 27, from Cardiff, guitarist and songwriter
Nicole Davis, 23, from Essex, folk, pop pianist, guitarist and songwriter
Peter Brame, 23, from Colchester, indie singer-songwriter and guitarist
Renata Wilson, 19, from Peterborough, R'n'B singer-songwriter
"We are just trying to put forward the people with the most talent," she said.

Endemol spokesman Charlie Gardner told BBC News Online the artists put forward by publishers and record companies got no special treatment.

"There's no-one there that's there because they were delivered to us by a record company or a publishing company," he said.

The remaining housemates will be chosen in two more heats before the lucky finalists enter the Academy on 6 August.

The eventual winner will receive a lucrative recording contract and get to live the life of a pop star for a year.
