Anderson recently appeared in London's West End |
Former X-Files actress Gillian Anderson was taken to hospital after slipping on the stairs of her London home. She was taken to the private Cromwell Hospital following the accident on Monday at her home in Notting Hill.
The Daily Mirror newspaper reported Anderson, 34, was rushed by ambulance to hospital with suspected neck and back injuries.
But a statement on Anderson's official website said she did not suffer any fractures or sprains and was released from hospital the same day after a check-up.
The newspaper also printed a photograph of the actress strapped to a stretcher as she arrived at the hospital in Earl's Court.
The hospital would not comment on Anderson's condition but her website refuted claims she needed to stay in hospital for a week.
Theatre role
Anderson, who finished her role as FBI Dana Scully in the X-Files in 2002, lives with partner Julian Ozanne and her eight-year-old daughter Piper.
The American actress came to the UK last year to star in the West End play What the Night is For, which ended its run in February.
She has also starred in movies including the 2000 period drama The House of Mirth.
Her X-Files role won her an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
