The Proms will features last night concerts in four countries |
The song I Feel Pretty from the musical West Side Story has won a public vote to be played at a forthcoming Proms concert. The song, from Bernstein's 1950s classic musical, was chosen by readers of the Radio Times and Proms Guide and users of the Proms website.
The song will now be sung by soprano Rosemary Joshua at the Nation's Favourite Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday.
Prom fans were asked to nominate arias to be sung by the soprano and tenor John Mark Ainsley.
The winning tunes also included Mozart's Voi Che Sapete from The Marriage of Figaro for Joshua to sing, and Donizetti's Una furtiva lagrima from The Elixir of Love for John Mark Ainsley.
Four countries
The top duet voted by the public is Jetzt, Schtzchen, jetzt sind wir allein from Beethoven's Fidelio.
The favourite prom event will also feature Sir David Attenborough narrating from Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf.
It will be broadcast live on Saturday on BBC Radio 3 and be recorded for BBC One on Sunday.

The event follows the opening of the 2003 Proms season on Friday.
The season, which runs from Friday until 13 September, will feature 73 concerts, eight Chamber Proms, four Composer Portraits, the Proms Lecture and more than 25 free pre-Prom events.
It will also include four last night events held in four separate countries - England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland - for the first time.
The season has already sold more than 240,000 tickets.
"Greek myths unite the season bringing drama, passion, love and war to the Proms with more than 35 myth-inspired works," a BBC statement said.
Myth-based operas like Berlioz's The Trojans, Strauss's Elektra and Tippett's King Priam and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas will be part of the season.
