Girls Aloud album: Your views
Girls Aloud
The band were formed on Pop Stars: The Rivals
TV talent show winners Girls Aloud have released their debut album, Sound of the Underground.

The album follows chart success with the single of the same name and their more recent hit, No Good Advice, which went in at number two earlier this month.

"There are some moments of high excitement for pop lovers, but almost none of them are down to the girls," said BBC News Online's Ian Youngs.

But what do you think?

This is such a cool album
Dave, Ireland

Better than I thought it would be. Fresh clean pop, catchy beats, definitely has a space in my CD rack!!
Scott, England

I think the new Girls Aloud album is fantastic. It's the best album of the year so far.
Paige Clarkson, England

It's a really good album!! I normally go for punk rock, but Girls Aloud drip with attitude, and cool!!!!
Jonni Mogul, UK

This album is the best album I have heard in years. It deserves to be a number one album. Beats One True Voice's music by far. Girls Aloud will not follow in the footsteps of Hear'Say.
Zoe Chan, England

Wow! What a fantastic album! There's nothing else like Girls Aloud on the market at the moment - looks or music wise and they are a huge breath of fresh air. I don't understand (and am getting very bored of) the argument that they don't deserve any credit because they don't write their own songs or play their own instruments. Not everyone can do everything. The Girls can sing and they have some top tunes written for them by people that obviously don't want to sing - or can't. There's room for everything - if there was only one sandwich filling life would be very dull. Come on the Girls!!
Looby, England

I don't usually like pop, but Girls Aloud are head and shoulders above the rest. Yes, they may rely on their looks and good marketing but it's all part of the fun. Fantastic album by the way - 4/5.
Nick, Birmingham, UK

Who would have thought a band from a TV show could make such a brilliant album!
Michael, England
I don't understand why people get so upset about a band being "manufactured". It's nothing new and if the music is good, who cares? Sound of the Underground and No Good Advice are two of the best pop singles for ages.
Dave Barker, UK

I think the album is good. It's pop music with an edge. Certainly better than the other pop groups out there. OK, they are not Coldplay but in their genre it's a good debut.
Paul, Newcastle

I hate these girls! They can't even be compared with my all time favourite group Spice Girls. I hate Girls Aloud, they are fake! They will follow the fate of Hear'Say! The will never make it outside UK! Spice Girls did, because they had talent! Spice Girls forever!
Fredrik, Norway

This album is brilliant and they can really sing, each song sounds different and has a different style - they are great!
SJ, England

Who would have thought a band from a TV show could make such a brilliant album! Well done girls, you are showing bands like Atomic Kitten how it should be done!
Michael, England

I think people should listen to this before judging it. I would have thought the same as some people here if I hadn't had a listen. It's actually very good, real music with a beat!
Andrew, England

Girls Aloud have proven their doubters wrong...this is one of the best pop albums to be out in a long time!
Lauren, England
Every track on the album is fantastic! And White Lies, Life Got Cold and Don't Want You Back could all easily top the charts. Great work from a great group! Please note: There are no covers on the album like the likes of Gareth Gates!
Loz, England

I really cannot understand why anyone likes this at all. They did not write the songs, they don't play their own instruments and the songs themselves are simplistic and boring, they represent the dumbing down of music in today's society. They may have good voices, if so they should put them to GOOD use. Pop music in general is dire. I am only 14 but I think that I have listened to enough music to realise that this above all is dire. On a lighter note, maybe they could have modelling careers...
Oliver Robinson, UK/Hong Kong

Personally I think their sound is fresh and the album a welcome addition to my collection of shameless pop. White Lies stands out as a potential chart topper. I followed the Popstars competition for the Waterman/Walsh battle. Think a rematch is inevitable.

Taste is subjective however. Just as people have the choice to change the TV channel or radio station. If you like a band and enjoy their music, buy the album. If not, don't.
Richard Doering, Surrey, England

This is the best album I've ever heard, the vocals are amazing, and they should carry on making great songs. Pure class.
Rosie, England

Girls Aloud have proven their doubters wrong...this is one of the best pop albums to be out in a long time! They may be finely polished but the vocal talent is there and Nadine is head and shoulders above any one else in the charts today!
Lauren, England

Their recordings would do justice to any elevator or clothes shop
Steve, UK
They are a waste of time, waste of money and should go home back to their nail varnishes and shoes.
June, UK

The album it great and the girls have done a brilliant job. I am sure they will have many more hits. Thanks to the girls for giving me and my mates somethng to dance around and be totally mental to, while we stress about our exams.
Laura, England

The album is outstanding in its entirety. Every single track is fabulous and would be a massive hit if released as a single. It truly deserves to be a number one album and the girls all sound fantastic throughout!
Denise, England

Lovely girls, nice voices, so so album. I'm afraid it's all about looks, and money. The men in suits who run the music industry and generally milk it are killing British pop music. As push the back door shut, they must wonder how real talent like Coldplay ever got in passed them.
f j , New Zealand

Another flash in the pan, bland fabricated pop group. Their inability to see that they are being manipulated by the very people who put them on their 15 minute pedestal leaves me in no doubt that we are witnessing the demise of creativity in music.
DMK, Bristol, UK

Girls Aloud's album rocks! They're not the best pop band, but they're still pretty good.
Avril, Finland

Three to four years like the rest - bets on for who bails first.
Owen, UK

Their recordings would do justice to any elevator or clothes shop.
Steve, UK

I am a huge fan of the girls. Their songs are exceptional and this album is no exception. I'm going to see them tonight at the box live concert in the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow!!!!
Nicole Gillan, Scotland

I don't believe that they have much to offer, perhaps when they launch their own songs as opposed to the covers that they do, then perhaps they will do better. But they are not as good as the most successful girl band of the 90s - the Spice Girls and they never will be!
George McAllister, Wales, UK

Girls Aloud rock. This is such a cool album and Louis Walsh is spot on with the comment that they are the Spice Girls with voices. Nadine from Derry is the best.
Dave, Ireland

A complete waste of money..They should stick to what their good at...NOTHING!!!
Berry, UK

This is the best pop album in years! Brilliant collection, no fillers. White Lies, Life Got Cold and Stop are just 3 of the songs which prove they have what it takes. Fantastic, just pure brilliance!
Andy, England, UK

Certainly not the best band - it's dire. Let's hope they do follow the same route of Hear'Say, just a bit quicker though.
Mark, England

It's puerile pop like this that is destroying music
Richard Swain, England
There really is no future for such manufactured "Groups". (They are a group, not band). It's puerile pop like this that is destroying music. It's not their fault, they are all talented singers but will be chewed up and spat out by the merciless pop machine.
Richard Swain, England

I wholeheartedly agree with 75% of the review... except the bit where it says none of the greatness is down to the girls. Excuse me, but any vocal album for it to be great needs great singers, and in my opinion, Nadine Coyle is one of the best young singers around today. The other girls have improved in leaps and bounds behind her. Would this album sound the same if, say, Jemini did it?
Stevie, England

This album is genius. The girls have done an amazing job on it! Such breath of fresh air to the pop industry, the tracks are so catchy you can't help but love each and every one of them. Long may Girls Aloud reign.
Tracey, UK

Roll on the time when we dispense with the unartistic rubbish of the backing tape, the obsession with fashion, and the squeaky clean, vainly manipulated recordings. It's no longer pop 'music', it's pop 'fashion', pop 'looks', and a complete lack of both instrumental and vocal talent.
Simon Jacobs, UK

It's a cracking album, one of the best pop albums in years. I can see at least three number one singles coming from the album! Well done girls!
Fromby, uk
