Cockahoop: Your views
Cerys Matthews
The album contains several covers
Former Catatonia vocalist Cerys Matthews has released her first solo album, Cockahoop.

The tracks were recorded in Nashville and have a country flavour far removed from the guitar-based sound of Catatonia.

"It is a compelling little record to those prepared to gamble on Matthews' new direction. If you are a fan of Glen Campbell and the idea of long summer evenings on a Nashville back porch, then you will be pleasantly surprised," said BBC News Online's Stephen Dowling.

But what do you think?

Can Matthews carve out a successful solo career based on this record? Do you like her new sound?

I think this album is fantastic and I hope there will be many, many more. I have brought every album she has made. I am looking forward to more.

I love this album. Cerys may not care if she doesn't become a huge star again, because she loves what she's doing and so do I.

This record is excellent. It's very positive and Cerys' voice just shines throughout. Album of the year!

This album buzzes with a feeling of warmth and happiness and Cerys' voice sounds absolutely amazing. It's so good to have her back sounding better than ever.
Chantal, UK

A fantastic album, the CD I've been waiting for to slot into my car player and drive along to, enjoying the subtle optimism within. It won't make #1, it won't make Cerys a superstar, but it will make each person who buys it incredibly satisfied.
Ross, Scotland

'm really pleased to get the chance to comment on Cerys Matthews. I'm not that familiar with her previous work and have only heard a couple of tracks from this album on the radio. The first time I heard the single I just found myself staring at the radio and wondering how on earth someone can making a living from music when they have no vocal talent whatsoever - it really is astonishing! Is this just a case of so many "yes" people around her that no-one will actually point out that she fails fundamentally as a singer?
Kim, UK

Great songs, great album. Shame about the singing.
Isabella, UK
