Stones roll out new dates
The Rolling Stones have added four more dates in Britain and Ireland to their sell-out shows.

The band are to play extra arena concerts in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and London in September.

They were to play just four shows at different sized London venues - from the intimate Astoria to Twickenham stadium.

Tickets for the earlier London shows sold out within three hours. The extra shows will go on sale on Friday at 0900 BST.


Creamfields unveils line-up

DJs Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Pete Tong and Timo Maas are among a host of big name DJs confirmed to play at Liverpool's Creamfields Festival.

The event, which takes places at the Old Liverpool Airfield on 24 August, will be headlined by a live set from Massive Attack

Ibiza favourites Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk will be returning from their residency at the island's Cream night for the festival.

A party to launch the festival is being held at Liverpool's Nation club on 24 May and will feature Tall Paul, Ferry Corsten and Lisa Lashes, who will all be playing at the main event.


Carry On set for DVD release

A range of T-shirt, shirts, pyjamas and underwear featuring the stars of the Carry On films are to be produced to coincide with the DVD release of the classic comedy movies.

Five of the films - Carry On Up The Khyber, Carry On Girls, Carry On Behind, Carry On Dick and Carry On Emmanuelle - are being released on DVD in May.

A further eight, including Carry On Camping, will be out in July.

Gerry Donohoe, managing director of Carlton's consumer division, said: "What we are seeing is a new generation going mad for the unique Carry On brand of innuendo-filled camp humour."


Scottish actors back new films

Scottish actors have thrown their weight behind two new home-grown films by agreeing to star in the productions.

Peter Mullan, who wrote and directed the award-winning The Magdalen Sisters, will play a blind farmer in psychological thriller Blinded.

The second film, Afterlife, features Trainspotting actor Kevin McKidd as a journalist who has to reassess his life when he discovers his mother is dying.

It also stars Shirley Henderson, currently working on the new Harry Potter film.


Elton John cancels gig over Sars concerns

Sir Elton John has cancelled a concert in the Canadian city of Toronto amid fears about the Sars virus.

The gig with US singer Billy Joel was due to take place on Monday and tickets for the concert were sold out.

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and Lisa Marie Presley also cancelled appearances in Canada.

Toronto auditions for TV talent series Canadian Idol could also come under threat due to the Sars epidemic.


Actor Lincoln to return to Teachers

Actor Andrew Lincoln is set to return for a new series of Teachers - both in front of and behind the camera.

His character Simon quit his job during the second series of the drama show in an attempt to hang on to his youth by travelling the world.

But he will feature in several episodes of the new 13-part series broadcast on Channel 4 from July.

Lincoln - who found fame in the BBC Two series This Life - will also direct two episodes of Teachers.


Jackson set to lose Neverland tax break

Michael Jackson can no longer qualify for tax breaks on his Neverland ranch, Santa Barbara officials have ruled.

The singer currently pays $13,000 (�8,200) annual tax on his $12m (�7.6m) ranch, located in California's Santa Ynez Valley.

But his tax could rise significantly after officials said not enough of the property - which includes an amusement park - was put to agricultural use.

A review of the property is due to take place on 2 May.


Manilow to receive Ella award

Barry Manilow is to receive an award for contribution to music and dedication to humanitarian causes.

The Society of Singers' 12th annual Ella Award, named after the first winner, Ella Fitzgerald, will be presented to the singer on Monday in Beverly Hills, California.

"There is no better person who typifies what the Ella Award stands for than Barry Manilow," said Singers' President Jerry F. Sharell.

Previous recipients include Tony Bennett, Julie Andrews, Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney and Peggy Lee.
