Stevens says she does not expect to compete with O'Meara |
S Club singers Rachel Stevens and Jo O'Meara have said they want to pursue their own music careers following the announcement of the group's split. In a TV interview Stevens, 25, said she would "love to go solo", while O'Meara, 23, said: "I would like to go solo, definitely."
The pair told GMTV there would be no competition between the two of them as solo performers.
S Club confirmed details of their split during a concert at the London Arena on Monday night, following months of speculation.
S Club say there is no acrimony in their split |
The six members said they would part company at the end of next month after four years. O'Meara said she would not let the pain of a debilitating back condition get in the way of her career.
"With the stuff that I would like to do afterwards, it doesn't involve dancing anyway," she said.
"It's a different thing, It's not very poppy. It's kind of country, Karen Carpenter-y."
The group said there had been no acrimony involved in their split.
Hannah Spearritt, 22, who intends to pursue acting, said: "It's like any job, you come to the end when you just want to move on to something else.
"We're not fed up of each other, even though we're really looking forward to being on our own, and we're going out while we still enjoy it."
Tina Barrett, 26, said she wanted to be involved in music.
Jon Lee, 20, said he would like to go into the theatre, while Bradley Mcintosh, 21, said he was concentrating on publishing and writing.
