Price was loved and admired by colleagues |
Former BBC presenter Christopher Price is to be remembered with the award of a news trainee sponsorship in his name. Price, who fronted BBC Three's Liquid News entertainment programme, was found dead in his flat a year ago, on 22 April 2002, at the age of 34.
An inquest revealed he had died of a rare brain disease known as meningoencephalitis.
The trainee will be sponsored through a one-year post-graduate journalism training course and receive work placements at BBC Three.

Colin Hancock, BBC Three's news editor, said Price was one of the most talented people he had worked with. "I think it's very fitting he'll now be associated with developing young journalistic talent for years to come," he said.
BBC entertainment correspondent Robert Nisbet, a close friend and colleague, said: "While we still miss him dreadfully, it's comforting to know that his name and legacy will be remembered by those going in to the business he revolutionised."
Before presenting Liquid News on what was formerly BBC Choice, Price had fronted its predecessor, Zero30, on BBC News 24.
He began his career in BBC local radio, moving to Radio Five Live and then to News 24 before joining BBC Choice.
After his death, thousands of tributes were paid by viewers and stars such as Kylie Minogue.
Friends and colleagues spoke of his journalistic integrity, enthusiasm, passion, wit and generosity.
