Big Brother's Jade has a boy

Former Big Brother contestant Jade Goody has given birth to a baby boy, called Bobby Jack, a month early.

The 21-year-old went into labour on Monday morning and was taken to the Portland Hospital in central London.

A spokeswoman for Goody said she and her son - who weighed in at five pounds and seven ounces - were fine.

Goody, who was in labour for just over nine hours, said: "I'm absolutely delighted. Bobby's a beautiful boy and we're both doing well."

The baby's father, former footballer Jeff Brazier, said: "I'm over the moon.

'Natural birth'

"Jade did brilliantly and I'm really proud of her.

"She was determined to have a natural birth and only had a little gas and air towards the end."

Goody, from Bermondsey, south-east London, became famous last summer in last year's third series of Big Brother, in which she came fourth behind winner Kate Lawler.

Her shaky grasp of general knowledge marked her out from the other contestants - she thought Rio de Janeiro was a footballer and Sherlock Holmes invented the toilet.

She now lives in Essex with Brazier, who appeared on another Channel 4 reality series, Shipwrecked.

Since last summer, Goody has appeared on numerous television programmes, released a fitness video and appeared in pantomime in Kent.

She is soon to appear in another Channel 4 show, Celebrity Wife Swap, in which she moves in with Major Charles Ingram of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? fame.
