New timeslot for Boys and Girls
Chris Evans
Evans is in court suing his former employers
Boys and Girls, Chris Evans' latest game show, is being moved out of its primetime Saturday night slot on Channel 4 after struggling in the ratings.

The programme - billed as the "ultimate battle of the sexes" - is being switched from 2100 to 2230.

Boys and Girls' debut on 1 March drew 1.1 million viewers - only 5% of the available audience - and was beaten by each of its terrestrial rivals.

However, Channel 4 said the schedule change does not mean that the programme is being "demoted".

It said the switch is designed to try to reach more of its target age group - 16-34 year olds.

"We are moving it because we think a later slot will help it get the audience it deserves," a spokeswoman said.

The show, which is produced by Evans, features 100 men and 100 women competing for a 100,000 shopping spree.

In one part of the programme, they are voted either "babe" or "minger" by fellow competitors, based on how attractive they look.

Evans, who is suing his former employers Virgin Radio in an 8.6m damages claim at the High Court, made a cameo appearance in the first episode.

But the show, presented by Vernon Kay, was derided by the bulk of TV critics.
