 Harrison cut off the hair in 1964 |
A Spanish hairdresser has bought a lock of hair from the head of the late Beatle George Harrison at an auction. The hair, which was snipped off by Harrison in 1964, was sold for 1,400 euros (�967).
Rafael Pages of Barcelona bought the unusual lot to be displayed in his own hairdressing museum.
Organiser Jordi Tarda said there was no doubt about its authenticity because photographs had captured the moment it was cut off.
It was also accompanied by a note from Harrison veryifing it was his.
It was sold at a pop memorabilia fair in the Spanish town of Girona.
Harrison died in 2001 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 58.
As one of the Beatles he was one of the biggest musical stars.
Harrison went on to have a successful solo career after the Beatles' split and also played with the supergroup the Travelling Wilburys with Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan.
The guitarist was credited with writing Beatles hits including Something, Taxman and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
