The Fight saw celebrities train and box for charity |
Boxing show the Fight will do battle with Jamie's Kitchen and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here for one of the world's top TV prizes, despite the matches being "postponed" over safety concerns earlier this year. The Fight is one of the programmes nominated in the reality category for the Golden Rose (Rose d'Or) competition, which takes place in Montreux, Switzerland, in May.
The BBC Two series, which saw well-known figures face each other in the boxing ring for charity, was put on hold indefinitely after boxing authorities complained.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) had threatened to revoke the licences of the trainers because it feared the bouts were dangerous.
The Montreux TV festival is one of the leading industry gatherings and the annual Golden Rose - given at the close - is the event's top prize and Europe's most prestigious TV honour.
The show that discovered pop star Will Young won last year |
Festival director Georges Luks said he was pleased a reality section had been introduced to the competition.
"After much debate last year about whether the reality boom would last, I think we have seen that this is still very much a developing genre," Mr Luks said.
Last year, ITV talent show Pop Idol - which launched the careers of winner Will Young and runner-up Gareth Gates - bagged the Golden Rose.
Elsewhere, programmes compete for awards in 15 entertainment categories. The winner of each group goes forward for the Golden Rose.
UK shows often dominate the list of nominees, and this year is no exception. In the reality section, nine out of the 14 shows are from the UK.
They also include Channel 4's The Salon, Make My Day and Faking It. And, the UK also has strong showing in the sitcom section with nine out of 15 shortlisted programmes.
They include BBC Two's multi-award winner The Office, I'm Alan Partridge and Marion And Geoff, as well as Channel 4's Phoenix Nights.
The variety category, ITV1's Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and BBC 's Sport Relief, are among the shows competing for best variety show.
Rolf Harris' BBC One series Rolf On Art will compete for the title of best arts show.
The Montreux TV festival runs from 13 to 18 May. The Golden Rose will be bestowed on 17 May.
