| Thursday, 14 November, 2002, 10:24 GMT Crowe in restaurant 'brawl' ![]() Russell Crowe: Police will take no action Actor Russell Crowe has been spoken to by police following an alleged brawl in a London restaurant, which was reportedly broken up by former EastEnders star Ross Kemp. Crowe, who won an Oscar for his leading role in Gladiator, was involved in an argument with New Zealand businessman, Eric Watson, according to The Sun newspaper. The incident took place at the Zuma restaurant in Knightsbridge, central London, close to the Harrods department store. A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman told BBC News Online that officers had been called out to the venue, but that the matter was now closed. "Police were called at 0042 GMT on 13 November to reports of an altercation involving two men believed to be in their 30s," she said. "No allegations of a crime were received, there were no injuries and there will be no further police action." Crowe, 38, was said to have scuffled in the bar and toilets with Mr Watson, and The Sun said Kemp stepped in to break up the row. Earlier this year Crowe apologised to a British TV executive after a confrontation at the Bafta film awards. He said sorry to Malcolm Gerrie, whose company Initial produced the ceremony for TV, after part of his acceptance speech for the best actor prize was cut from the broadcast. | See also: 05 Nov 02 | Entertainment 24 Jun 02 | Entertainment 04 Mar 02 | Entertainment Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
