Robbie Williams' latest single, Feel, had its world premi�re on BBC Radio 1's breakfast show on Friday morning.

The song was also played on other stations across the country, including national rock station Virgin and London's Capital FM.

A spokesperson for Capital said the station's switchboard had been "jammed" by callers wanting to know more about the track, while Radio 1's Sara Cox was also keen on the track.

She said: "I like it, it sounds like he's got a lot of quality musicians in one big room. It's classic Robbie in that it might take a couple of listens and then it'll become a firm favourite."

From Monday Radio 1 will be previewing one new track a day , for 14 days, on its website.

At Virgin, executive producer James Curran said the song wasn't an automatic playlist certainty.

"We played the single on Daryl Denham's breakfast show on Friday and will be testing it on air with our listeners over the next couple of days to see what their reaction is towards the single," he said.

"As we are now focusing on more of a rock music format and Robbie isn't really one of our core artists, we think it's important to get our listeners' views on this one"

It is the first single from his new album Escapology which is released on 18 November. It is the first album in his �80 million deal with EMI.

It is believed the single will not be released until late December, as part of a bid for the Christmas number one.
