Britney Spears - currently on a six month sabbatical - is already planning her return to the recording studio.

The singer has been spending time with fashion designer Donatella Versace, but is to start recording after she returns from Italy.

The Italian designer said her latest collection was inspired by Spears' raunchy stage persona.

Versace and Spears are friends

Spears decided to take time out of the limelight after an exhausting spell of touring, recording and promotion.

The 21-year-old told reporters at Versace's spring/summer 2003 fashion show: "I think I may just go to Los Angeles and record a little bit. But other than that I just plan to hang out.

"It's like a dream come true being here right now."

Spears first found fame in 1998 with Baby One More Time, and has since enjoyed both musical success and paparazzi attention.

Versace said her young friend was still clearly in need of rest and recuperation.

"She needs a vacation. She's worked so so hard for so many years. She's a young girl and she's a little tired," said Versace.

Flattered Spears

The singer - who has had a convoluted and much-publicised personal life - had earlier posed for photographers in a sequinned translucent dress.

"My clothes are very young and rock and roll - Britney things," Versace said.

Spears paid tribute to her illustrious host as the pair posed at the show.

"I'm incredibly flattered. You are so sweet. You let me into her home and you're so nice."
