Harry Potter fans are to get their biggest taste yet of the young wizard's new movie when a two-minute trailer is shown on United States television.

Fans have already been given a sneak preview of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with a short teaser shown at cinemas and on the internet shown earlier this year.

But the new 137-second clip will give a better idea of what to expect from one of the most hotly-anticipated films of the year.

Kenneth Branagh will star in the second Harry Potter film

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second film adaptation of JK Rowling's hit books, and will be released around the world in November.

The trailer will be broadcast on US TV station WB, the sister network of Harry Potter film studio Warner Bros.

It will be shown during Thursday's first episode of a new comedy series, Family Affair, starring UK actor Tim Curry.

It is hoped that the trailer will help boost viewing figures as happened when a similar taster for the first Harry Potter film was shown in 2001.

When that was shown, it helped the channel to its highest audience figures of the season for a Friday night.

Draco Malfoy is still Harry Potter's rival

The first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, went on to become the second most successful film in box office history, taking almost $1bn (�640m) around the world.

Among the clips from the second instalment already revealed to fans were scenes of Harry and fellow Hogwarts pupil Draco Malfoy duelling in the Great Hall.

The first trailer also shows Harry and his best friends, Ron and Hermione, drinking Polyjuice Potion and Harry writing in a mysterious diary.

The new characters to be introduced in the Chamber of Secrets include Kenneth Branagh as Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, the new Defence Against Dark Arts teacher.

Mystery

The story of the first movie focused on Harry coming to terms with his magical powers.

The second film concentrates more on the action at Hogwarts.

Term starts well but Harry soon begins to hear voices from within the walls and Hogwarts students are mysteriously turned to stone.

Harry and his friends then set out to discover the dark force that is terrorising the school.
