| Monday, 15 July, 2002, 12:01 GMT 13:01 UK Pop Idol judge lands BBC deal ![]() Chapman (third from left) managed Billie Piper Pop Idol judge Nicki Chapman is to host a new daytime TV programme for BBC One. Chapman will present a live magazine show for the channel every weekday.
She is reported to have been offered a nine-month contract worth �500,000. Alison Sharman, the BBC's controller of daytime TV, said: "Signing Nicki is a real coup for the BBC. I'm delighted that she is joining us. Stand in "Nicki is very talented, warm and friendly and she will immediately strike up a great relationship with the daytime audience." She will also front a travel programme about British ex-pats living in Florida, called Escape to the Sun, as well as hosting City Hospital as a stand-in for Matthew Kelly. It is believed to be her first straight presenting role after she found fame on ITV1's talent show Pop Idol. She will continue as creative director of 19 Management, which looks after Pop Idol stars Will Young and Gareth Gates and her contract allows her to continue work with ITV1. She used to be Billie Piper's manager, as well as working with the Spice Girls and Take That. Work on the new daytime show will begins later this year. This Morning is currently being overhauled after ratings fell in the wake of the departure of long-term hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.
