| Sunday, 14 July, 2002, 17:59 GMT 18:59 UK Gates ends Elvis revival ![]() Gates appeared recently at London's Party in the Park Gareth Gates has ended Elvis Presley's four-week stint at the top of the UK singles charts. On Sunday his single Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake) entered the charts at number one.
Now it has dropped to number three, behind Scooter's dance version of The Logical Song - originally a hit for Supertramp in 1979. Also new in the singles top ten are the US R&B singer Ashanti at number four, and Canadian rocker Bryan Adams at five.
Their new album Heathen Chemistry had hit number one on its release - but has now been replaced by US rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers with By The Way. Australian indie-rockers The Vines have jumped to number three with their album Highly Evolved. But a previous generation is still in evidence, with Queen's greatest hits and David Bowie's Heathen still in the top 20 - and a new collection of Jimi Hendrix's hits coming in at number 10.
