Gareth Gates has ended Elvis Presley's four-week stint at the top of the UK singles charts.

On Sunday his single Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake) entered the charts at number one.

Presley's A Little Less Conversation, remixed by Dutch DJ Junkie XL, had made history by giving the rock'n'roll king one more chart-topper than The Beatles.

Now it has dropped to number three, behind Scooter's dance version of The Logical Song - originally a hit for Supertramp in 1979.

Also new in the singles top ten are the US R&B singer Ashanti at number four, and Canadian rocker Bryan Adams at five.

In the album charts, Oasis have been deposed from the top spot after a single week.

Their new album Heathen Chemistry had hit number one on its release - but has now been replaced by US rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers with By The Way.

Australian indie-rockers The Vines have jumped to number three with their album Highly Evolved.

But a previous generation is still in evidence, with Queen's greatest hits and David Bowie's Heathen still in the top 20 - and a new collection of Jimi Hendrix's hits coming in at number 10.

And singer Norah Jones continues her visit to the top 20, a rarity for an acoustic jazz artist.
