Police escort for Madonna
Madonna received a police escort from London's West End on the evening of Monday's Jubilee concert, it has been reported.

A van load of uniformed officers picked her up from Wyndhams Theatre, where she is appearing in the comedy Up For Grabs, and drove her home, according to the Daily Mail.

Scotland Yard said officers can use their "discretion" to escort people, although it had no record that Madonna was accompanied.

A spokeswoman said: "Police may facilitate the movement of individuals through public crowds if it is thought it may prevent crushing or a breach of the peace.

"This is done as much for the benefit of the crowd as the person who is being moved."

The band were in the middle of a tour when the accident happened in Spain, forcing them to cut short their European visit and cancel their US dates.
