Ant and Dec's official World Cup anthem is expected to only enter the charts in third place.
DJ Otzi's re-released Hey Baby, adapted for terrace songs all over the country, is among the strongest of the contenders for a top 20 spot. One wild card is the Sex Pistols re-released God Save the Queen, which could be a contender for the top 10 in Jubilee week. Gennaro Castaldo, head of Press and PR at HMV, said this was a "potentially huge week for the singles chart". "Our confident expectation is that Will Young will sell around 200,000 singles to comfortably go straight in at number one and take over from Eminem." England boost He said it would be the eighth different single to top the charts in as many weeks. "Ant and Dec's We're on the Ball should make the top three, and of the other football releases DJ Otzi's re-release of Hey Baby probably has the best chance of chart success. "The other World Cup singles are likely to be relatively low key at this stage, but if England do well and progress through the tournament, anything is possible. Other contenders to be in the top 10 are Liberty X, Atomic Kitten and Ronan Keating. | See also: 07 Apr 02 | Entertainment 15 Mar 02 | Entertainment 10 Mar 02 | Entertainment 12 Feb 02 | Entertainment Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
