Luminaries from film, television, theatre, art, music and dance assembled for the gala event in London's Piccadilly. Here are scenes from the celebration.  The Queen was handing out bursaries to aspiring artists  Former prime minister Baroness Thatcher was a vision in fuschia  More established performers were in abundance, including ballerina Darcey Bussell  The film and theatre talent on show included Charles Dance, Geraldine James and Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry  The man responsible for Dame Edna Everage met 12 real life dames  Furniture designer Viscount Linley and fashion designer Jasper Conran found they had something in common  The Attenboroughs represented film and broadcasting respectively | |
