Jubilee was a dark, futuristic fantasy

Also showing at the NFT are lesser-known documentaries from the era, including Janet Street-Porter's 1976 film for LWT's The London Weekend Show, which includes a live Sex Pistols performance.

DOA, a documentary shot during 1977 and 1978 by Polish director Lech Kowalski, includes a slurred interview with the Sex Pistols' doomed bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungeon.

The 1978 feature film Jubilee will also be screened.

Civilisation

Directed by Derek Jarman, it was an apocalyptic fantasy in which Elizabethan alchemist John Dee projects centuries into the future to monitor the activities of a wild girl gang in 1977.

Rude Boy included documentary elements

The US punk scene is also included, with a screening of the 1980s The Decline of Western Civilisation, a record of the scene in Los Angeles directed by Penelope Spheeris.

And the BBC's more recent documentary, Arena: Punk and the Pistols will be seen with some cuts in the TV version restored.

The Clash are seen acting as well as playing in Rude Boy, a drama-documentary shot during 1977 and 1978 that includes footage of National Front demonstrations and a Rock Against Racism gig.
