| Monday, 13 May, 2002, 09:23 GMT 10:23 UK Baftas for Banzai and Blue Planet ![]() The Blue Planet was hailed as ground-breaking The Blue Planet and Banzai were among programmes honoured at this year's Bafta craft awards. A trio of shows picked up two awards: The Blue Planet, The Way We Live Now and Othello. The craft awards are designed to reward the best of the talent behind the TV cameras. Among the celebrity award presenters were actress Tara Fitzgerald, Bob Geldof, Richard Curtis and Kate Adie. The best costume design went to Barbara Kidd for her work on the period drama The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby on ITV1. ITV also scored success with wins for Othello in the editing in fiction/entertainment category and for photography in fiction/entertainment. Bafta gave out two special awards at the London ceremony on Sunday night.
Wacky gameshow The Blue Planet, a groundbreaking series on life in the ocean, won best original music for former Bafta winner George Fenton. His previous winning work has included Bergerac, The Monocled Mutineer and An Englishman Abroad. The wacky betting gameshow Banzai won in the category of visual effects and graphic design. BBC One's costume drama The Way We Live Now added to its awards haul by winning for best make-up and hair and best production design. It had already won a best drama gong at April's Bafta television awards in April. BBC Two's The Show Must Go On, a documentary by Anna Ksiezopolska following Baz Luhrmann's promotion of Moulin Rouge, won best editing in a factual programme. Channel 4 documentary Hell in the Pacific was awarded the Bafta for sounding editing.
