Kylie tour survives throat scare
Kylie Minogue
Minogue's tour began in Cardiff on Friday
Singer Kylie Minogue is carrying on with her UK tour after shaking off a throat infection.

The Australian performer had been suffering from a viral infection, and doctors had advised her to take it easy to protect her vocal chords.

But on Sunday she said she had almost recovered from the bug, and her 25-date tour - which kicked off on Friday at Cardiff's International Arena - would continue as normal.

The singer complained of feeling unwell on Friday
She had flown in a special voice coach from Los Angeles and taken on a nutritionist to help protect her voice.

In a statement released on Sunday she said: "I'm feeling so much better, and I'm nearly 100% recovered.

"Everyone's been really supportive and helped me through it."

Her spokesman told BBC News Online from Cardiff, where Minogue was preparing for her latest show: "On the first night of the tour, she mentioned on stage that she had a virus.

"But I saw her today and she's feeling great and looking forward to tonight's concert."

The tour, which ends in London on 27 May, has reportedly cost 4m to put on.

Minogue's career shot to new heights recently when her single Can't Get You Out Of My Head went to number one in the UK and became a hit in the US as well.

She also walked away with two Brit Awards at the ceremony in February.
