Iler, 17, has escaped jail by admitting the offence of misdemeanour petty larceny in return for three years probation.
Iler was arrested in July 2001 after stealing $40 (27) from two teenage tourists in Manhattan's Upper East Side district. He told the judge he and a friend, Alban Selimaj, 17, decided to "hassle" the pair after seeing them walk down the street towards them. Selimaj entered the same plea but a third defendant, Michael Cournede, 20, has maintained his innocence and is due to stand trial on the robbery charge.
'Embarrassed' A police report said Iler bragged and cursed after his arrest, telling an officer: "Don't you worry about me - I'm a millionaire." He was released on $2,500 (1,720) bail but said he was "terribly embarrassed" by the arrest and regretted putting his family and friends through an "extremely difficult" time. Iler plays the rebellious Anthony "AJ" Soprano Jr, son of a mafia boss, in the award-winning TV drama. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Showbiz stories now: Links to more Showbiz stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
