Beatty is being given the Akira Kurosawa Award for lifetime achievement in film directing, and Spacey an acting award. The festival begins on Thursday with Matthew McConaughey's latest film, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing. Woody Allen's latest film Hollywood Ending will close the festival on 2 May. Memorial service for Urich A memorial service will take place on Friday for Emmy-winning US actor Robert Urich, who died from a rare form of cancer at the age of 55. The actor was perhaps best known for his TV work on Vegas and Spencer: For Hire. He had been suffering from synovial cell sarcoma, a cancer that attacks the body's joints. Urich, who was born in Toronto, landed his first major stage role, in The Rainmaker, with the help of Burt Reynolds and won an Emmy in 1992 for his narration of the US cable TV documentary U-Boats: Terror on Our Shores. Triple 'wedding' plans The three members of garage act Mis-teeq are planning a joint wedding, according to reports. Alesha is engaged to So Solid Crew's MC Harvey, Su-Elise to Charles Gordon, and Sabrina to Ian Mitchell. Sabrina told the Sun newspaper: "We have been through a lot together, so it seemed right." The band has became one of the UK's biggest new acts and they performed at the Brit Awards earlier this year. Cusack takes on Cleopatra Irish actress Sinead Cusack will star opposite Stuart Wilson in a new production of Anthony And Cleopatra. The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) production will be at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 28 August. Cusack's last appearance with the RSC was as Lady Macbeth in 1986. Wilson has appeared in the films Death and the Maiden and The Mask of Zorro. Jamiroquai goes back to roots Singer Jay Kay is swapping the bright lights of stadiums to play in front of just 300 fans. The band will be performing in Ealing, west London, which is where Kay came up with the whole idea of Jamiroquai. The intimate gig is the first in a series of Carling Homecoming events, which take artists back to where it all began. No tickets are going on sale for the gig at the Broadway Boulevard on 15 May - they are available from www.carlinglive.com | Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
