 | | Wednesday, 10 April, 2002, 15:09 GMT 16:09 UK Harry Potter book sales slow  Harry Potter has appealed to children and adults alike Young wizard Harry Potter could be accused of losing his magic touch as two of the series of hugely-popular books slip out of the top 10 bestsellers list in the UK. After dominating the book charts for months, only JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth instalment, is still in the top flight, but just hanging on to the number 10 spot. It was sitting at number one just weeks ago. Both Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets have slipped, to numbers 16 and 19, according to Whitaker Booktracks. Number one in the charts is James Patterson's thriller 1st to Die, which has shot up from number 29.
Book of the Year Nick Hornby's How to be Good climbed 25 places to number two in the list, which is based on data of weekly book sales at around 6,000 UK outlets and on the internet. Hornby's fourth novel has just been awarded the WH Smith Book of the Year, voted for by readers. As well as picking a prize cheque of �45,000, the Fever Pitch author can also expecte sales to continue to rise. The harrowing autobiographical trilogy about child abuse by Dave Pelzer continues to sell well. A Man Name Dave, the final part, has moved up the chart from number 64 to three. Novelist Catherine Cookson's mystery Silent Lady leaped from 113 to number four. The first Harry Potter book is sitting at number 65 in the chart, 249 weeks after it was first released.
