| Tuesday, 12 March, 2002, 18:32 GMT Ant and Dec sweep TV awards ![]() Ant and Dec will star in Likely Lads remake TV presenters Ant and Dec have swept the board at the annual Television and Radio Industries Club (Tric) awards. The duo were named TV personalities of the year, while the hit shows they hosted - CD:UK and Pop Idol - were also winners. Pop Idol, which was a massive hit on ITV1, was named TV entertainment programme of the year, beating The Frank Skinner Show and So Graham Norton. CD:UK, the Saturday morning kids' show they used to host with Cat Deeley, was named best TV music and arts programme. Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly left the show in December to concentrate on other TV commitments, including plans for a new series of The Likely Lads.
The duo were not at the ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel but Pop Idol judges Simon Cowell and Nicki Chapman were on hand to pick up the prizes. Personalities Radio One's Sara Cox was named radio personality of the year, ITV's Gabby Logan was sports presenter of the year, while Mary Nightingale scooped newscaster of the year. Ronni Ancona, comedy partner of Alistair MacGowan, was named best new TV talent and Linda Green, starring former Big Breakfast presenter Liza Tarbuck, picked up comedy programme of the year.
Channel 4's house hunting show A Place In The Sun won best morning/daytime show, while BBC One's The Way We Live Now won best drama.
