Mr Adams reportedly swerved David Beckham's luxury Chrysler people carrier away from the full force of the crash, which happened near Stafford at around 2200 GMT on Sunday night.

"One of the vehicles was driven by Tony Adams, and Victoria and Brooklyn Beckham were also on board. None of them was injured," a spokesman for West Midlands Police motorway division said.

Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries sustained in the accident, which happened just before the slip road for Junction 13 on the motorway.

The footballer's �31,000 Grand Voyager sustained a large gash down one side.

Pregnant

An unscathed Brooklyn attended a special screening of Monsters Inc. the following day in Manchester to celebrate his birthday.

The three-year-old's grandparents, parents and other relatives were joined at the celebration by several Manchester United players, including brothers Gary and Phil Neville and Paul Scholes.

Team-mates Mikael Silvestre and Laurent Blanc had to leave the bash unexpectedly when traffic wardens towed away their illegally-parked cars.

The Beckhams confirmed last month that Mrs Beckham is pregnant.

She is due to give birth in September.
