| Sunday, 17 February, 2002, 18:45 GMT Beckham: 'I'm staying with label' ![]() Victoria Beckham: Single charted at number six Singer Victoria Beckham has lashed out at reports claiming she is about to be dropped by her record label. Her latest single A Mind of Its Own has entered the UK singles chart at number six - sparking speculation that her label Virgin was losing patience in the Spice Girls singer. But Beckham insisted she was "over the moon" with her chart position.
She said her forthcoming single, I Wish, a duet with Robbie Craig, was already receiving lots of airplay. "They wouldn't be letting me do another single if I was going to get dropped," she added. "You know what newspapers are like, they just like to put all the negative stuff in, but as far as I'm concerned and the record company is concerned it is all great." This week's chart shows Enrique Iglesias holding off competition from Beckham, S Club 7, DB Boulevard and Brandy to stay at number one for a fourth week with his ballad Hero. S Club 7 have the highest new entry with You, while Italian DJ act DB Boulevard's Point of View is new in at number three and US R'n'B superstar Brandy enters at four with What About Us?
Other new entries include Alizee's Moi Lolita at nine, Timo Mass' To Get Down (14) Control by Puddle of Mudd (15), LeAnn Rimes' But I Do Love You (20), and Swedish rock sensations Hives with Hate To Say I Told You So at number 23. Iglesias' album Escape is also the top album for the second week running, with Boyz II Men's greatest hits collection Legacy at number two. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Music stories now: Links to more Music stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
