Dido makes UK's female rich list
Dido
Eminem's use of a Dido sample exposed her to new fans
Singer-songwriter Dido has been placed fourth in a list of the UK's highest-earning women.

Having earned an estimated 10m this year, Dido comes in just below game-show host Anne Robinson, with 11m.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling tops the list, having earned an estimated 45.4m in 2001.

Dido's ascent to the list comes soon after the announcement that her album No Angel was the biggest-seller of 2001 in the UK - with 1.9 million copies sold.

The singer, 29, was little-known in her native UK until last year - despite having been recording since 1999.

Her breakthrough came when rap star Eminem sampled Thankyou for his track Stan - a huge hit in December 2000.

No Angel: Number one in 13 countries
Dido is the sister of dance producer Rollo, whose group Faithless has had its own major chart hits in the late 1990s.

No Angel, her debut album, was released in the US release in June 1999.

She began to enjoy modest success in the US, her track Here With Me being used as the theme for the hit US television series Roswell, and Thankyou appearing on the soundtrack of the Gwyneth Paltrow movie, Sliding Doors.

Since the Eminem hit, No Angel has been a number one album in 13 countries.

Other singers on the female earners list include Sarah Brightman and Sade, who shared the number 11 position.

Sade was made an OBE in 2002's New Year's Honours List.
