| Monday, 3 December, 2001, 07:07 GMT Cat takes Bafta TV cream ![]() Cat that got the cream: Deeley kisses her Bafta Television celebrity Cat Deeley has beaten her former co-presenters Ant and Dec to the Best Presenter at the Children's Bafta awards. On Saturday, Cat said goodbye to her colleagues Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as they left the popular children's television SM:TV Live. But her talented performance on the Saturday morning programme has been rewarded by the honour from the British Academy Children's Film and Television Awards.
Shrek, the animated movie, which features the voice of Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz beat Jim Carrey's The Grinch and Spy Kids to win the best Feature Film category. The Writer's Award was presented to Roy Apps for his contribution to children's television over the past 20 years with credits including Byker Grove, Barmy Aunt Boomerang and The Ghost Hunter.
Cat received her best presenter award from Simon Cowell, chairman of judges from the talent show Pop Idol. Ant and Dec, who front Pop Idol, were the first members of the audience on their feet to applaud their former colleague. Also in the audience were Olympic Gold medallist Denise Lewis, boxer Audley Harrison, presenter Dani Behr, former Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey and one of the stars of the hit comedy The Royle Family, Ralf Little. Big Brother star Dean O'Loughlin and EastEnders actor Todd Carty, who plays Mark Fowler, were also there.
