| Monday, 12 November, 2001, 09:29 GMT New presenter for Newsround ![]() Jago: 'Nervous' about the appointment BBC One's children's news programme Newsround's newest presenter, Becky Jago, has joined the team. The 25-year old will join Matthew Price and Lizo Mzimba on the reporting team for the daily show. Jago was formerly a weather forecaster for Norwich-based Anglia Television where she worked for two years. She is to replace Kate Sanderson who left the programme in September to join BBC Watchdog and is enthusiastic about her new appointment. "I have watched Newsround from a young age and I think it will be a lot of fun," she says. "I am really looking forward to it, though I'm a bit nervous". Jago joined Anglia from radio station Vibe FM, where she co-presented the breakfast show. Newsround goes out live five days a week and is seen by millions across the country. The programme was first aired in 1972 as John Craven's Newsround - named after its sweater-wearing host. Several of the more recent presenters have moved into making news for national evening bulletins, including the late Helen Rollason, Channel Four anchorman Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Juliet Morris. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top TV and Radio stories now: Links to more TV and Radio stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
